- Putting the text into your words.
paraphrasing
located at the beginning of the text and lists key topics in the book with the page number in the order they are presented.
table of contents
listed text that is indented and aligned using a dot, symbol, or dash, in front of each idea.
bullet
- piece of reading material that is hard-bounded contains many pages, has a cover, and title page form together to form one reading material.
book
- Reducing a text to its main points and its most important ideas.
summarizing
events listed in linear format in the order that they occur.
timeline
- a critical assessment may have various structures, but the simplest is a short summary followed by an evaluation and may include the writer’s opinion. Although usually associated with fault finding or criticism in a negative sense, it actually also involves merit recognition and enhances understanding and invites discussion and further commentary.
critique
a phonetic representation of a word
pronunciation guide
Analysis and commentary of an article or text, instead of an entire book. An article critique presents a critical assessment of the article’s content and may offer agreement or disagree
article critique
located at the back of the book, an alphabetical listing of text-important words with definition and sometimes a pronunciation guide.
glossary
large amounts of information or data organized and condensed into columns and rows with headings.
chart
- text located near a picture, map, diagram, etc. that explains what it is.
caption
data in diagram form; such as a bar graph, line graph, or pie graph.
graph
an aerial-view pictures showing the demographic location of something or someone
map
- are statements used to make a declaration or to express a strong belief on a particular topic.
assertions
based on facts, but is difficult to objectively verify because of the uncertainty of producing satisfactory proofs of soundness.
