Q

Give 7 tips on how to develope your memory

A

PAY ATTENTION
You can’t remember something that you havent learnt and you cant learn something if you dont pay attention. The thing you are learning about needs to be encoded in your brain.
Remind yourself constantly to focus and pay attention

INVOLVE AS MANY SENSES AS POSSIBLE
Connect info to colours, textures, smells, sounds and tastes. The physical act of rewriting info helps encode the info in your brain. Read things out aloud, so qyou can also hear it.

CONNECT INFO TO WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW
Connect new info to info you already remember.

FOCUS ON UNDERSTANDING BASIC IDEAS RATHER THAN MEMORISING SMALL DETAILS
Pick out the main ideas. Practise explaining these to someone else in your own words

REPEAT INFO YOU’VE ALREADY LEARNT
Revise what you learnt the same day you learn it. It is better than trying to learn work the night before

EAT THE RIGHT FOOD
By choosing the right foods you increase your mental agility and improve your memory’s

USE MNEMONICS
Mnemonics are simple tools to help you improve your memory. Examples:
~ACRONYMS: helpful when you need to remember a list or sequence. An acronym is a word, phrase, rhymes or sentences made from the first letter or letters of keywords of the main ideas. You can also take the first letters of the words you need to remember and make a rhyme or silly sentence.
~ASSOCIATION: works if you create vivid memorable images by visualizing a clear picture in your mind that is as odd or funny as possible.
