Analogy
A comparison between two things for the purpose of explanation or clarification
Antagonist
A character, Group of characters, or institution that opposes the protagonist or main character
Anti-Hero
In literature, an antihero is a central character who lacks conventional heroic qualities. They blur the line between hero and villain
Anthropomorphism
Occurs when a human quality, emotion, or ambition is given to a non-human object or being
Antithesis
Is used when the writer puts two sentences of contrasting meanings close to one another
Apostrophe
A figure of speech in which the speaker addresses an object, concept, or person that is unable to respond
Archetype
Is a concept, person, or object. Archetypes are immediately identifiable and can be overused
Atmosphere
Is created when the setting or scene creates an emotional response in the reader viewer
Catharsis
Is the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from strong, or repressed emotions
Metaphors
Is an implied comparison that is made between two unlike things
Cliche
Is an expression, idea, or element of work which has become overused
Cliffhanger
Is a plot device in fiction used to ensure the audience will return to see how the characters resolve the dilemma
Dynamic or round Character
A character goes through change or growth in the story
Static or flat character
Remains same, no change during the story
