priests urged them to confess their sins and promise to mend their ways as they thought it would go away.

they carried them to purify the air in the house in hope to get rid of the black death.
why did people not look at people who had caught the plague?
people believed that making eye contact with a plague victim would make them catch the disease
why did people flee the town?
people thought if they left towns and went to the countryside the air would be better but instead they just carried the plague with them.

people with the plague painted a red cross on the door to show that they had the plague.
what did householders do to people lodging?
lodgers (even children) weere forced out of their homes and onto the streets if they were sick
