Reactions Flashcards
What are the 3 types of reactions?
Acid + Base
Acid + Metal
Acid + Carbonate
What does an acid + base reaction produce?
Salt + Water
What does an acid + metal reaction produce?
Salt + Hydrogen Gas
What does an acid + carbonate reaction produce?
Salt + Carbon Dioxide + Water
How do you know there has been a neutralisation between an acid and a base?
Neutralisation is an exothermic reaction so the reaction will cause a change in temperature.
What is a test for an acid + base reaction?
test the pH level of both acid and base and after they are mixed together by adding universal indicator and measuring the pH level of the pH scale.
What is a test for an acid + metal reaction?
The pop test.
What is a test for an acid + carbonate reaction?
Mixing the reaction substance with clear limewater, you know it is an acid + carbonate reaction if the limewater turns cloudy.
