The PenitentialRite is so important as it is not only the stage where the Congregation ask to be forgiven, it is when God hears them and -if they are deeply sorry- Catholics have faith that God forgives our sins in this process.

35
Q

Liturgy of the Word

A

The Liturgy of the Word is when the Priest reads readings from the New And Old Testament as well as the Gospel. Liturgy means worship which is exactly what you do in the Liturgy of the word as well as singing a song or praise from the books of Psalms and the Alleluia. Alleluia means praise God which is what we sing “praise God, praise God, Praise God.”

36
Q

Creed

A

The Creed is a proclamation by the congregation of all the things that the religion believes in, in other words it is how Catholics summaries and express there religion through Mass. It is also when you show your faith to God.

37
Q

Bidding prayer

A

The Bidding Prayers are where the congregation ask for Gos help in there worries, struggling times or any other thing they need help in.

38
Q

The Offertory

A

The Offertory is the gifts of bread and wine to be used at the consecration are brought to the alter.
This is an important step of Mass as it is the beginning of the holy communion meaning it is the beginning of the re-enactment of the last supper and the beginning of the Transubstantiation (the change of bread and wine to body and blood of Christ).

39
Q

Eucharistic Prayer

A

The Eucharistic prayer is one of the most important parts of mass, it is the prayer in which the bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ at the consecration. This is the transubstantiation where the bread and wine change the the blood and body of christ in the form of bread and wine.

40
Q

Sign of peace

A

The congregation offer one another a gesture of goodwill, it is where we shake each others hands in respect once again showing that everyone is equal in the eyes of a Catholic and the church.

41
Q

Communion

A

Communion is one of the most important parts, it is the only time in mass that is restricted to all except the catholics that believe that you are actually taking the body and blood of christ. Communion is the direct re-enactment of the last supper as Jesus hands out the body and blood of Christ.

42
