How does a parish priest fulfil the mission of the Church (daily life)?
Leading Mass, administering sacraments, offering pastoral care.
What is the Sacrament of Holy Orders?
The sacrament through which men are ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops.
What is a monk? What is a nun?
A monk is a man dedicated to a religious life in a monastery. A nun is a woman who takes religious vows and serves in a convent.
How do monks/nuns fulfil the mission of the Catholic Church?
Through prayer, service, teaching, and missionary work.
What two types of orders can monks/nuns join?
Contemplative (focused on prayer) and Active (focused on service).
What is a chaplain?
A clergy member who provides spiritual care outside of a church setting, such as in hospitals, prisons, or the military.
Three places a chaplain might work.
Hospitals, prisons, the military.
How does a prison chaplain fulfil the mission of the Catholic Church?
By providing spiritual guidance, support, and sacraments to inmates.
What does it mean to say the Catholic Church is the ‘Body of Christ’?
It means that all believers are united in Christ, forming one spiritual body.
What does it mean to say the Church is ‘One Body, many parts’?
Different people have different roles in the Church, but all contribute to the mission of Christ.
Two examples of poverty that affect the developing world?
Lack of clean water, lack of education.
Three things that all people should have access to according to CAFOD.
Food, clean water, education.
What is a lay person? What is the laity?
A lay person is a non-ordained member of the Church. The laity are all baptized members who are not clergy.
Three practical ways SVP members help local people.
Providing food, visiting the sick, offering financial support.
