Frequency (count)
every time a behavior occurs, you mark
Rate
Behavior occurs per time, useful if sessions vary in time
Duration
Total extent of time in which a behavior occurs, must have obvious beginning and end
Latency
the time it takes a child to follow an instruction
IRT
time between two successive responses
Whole Interval
the behavior occurs during the whole interval. Used to increase a behavior
Partial Interval
behaviors occurs whenever during interval. Used to decrease a behavior
Momentary time sampling
behavior occurs at a specific point in time. Used when observing multiple people
Permanent Product
measuring behavior’s effects after it occurs, leaving a permanent physical product like holes or completed assignments
Operational definition
define behavior in observable, specific terms for therapists to measure instances accurately
Interobserver Agreement (IOA)
when two people have similar instances recorded when measured independently
Preference Assessments
identify learners’ preferences for objects and activities, requiring regular monitoring and adjustments. Not considered a reinforce until is show that the behavior occurs frequently
Reinforcers
presented after a behavior to make it occur more
Ask
ask person or significant others to name things they prefer or give them a survey
Free Operant
learners are free to engage with items, but monitoring their engagement helps identify problem behaviors, communication issues, or assesses for reinforcers that cannot be held in their hand
