Rates Of Reaction Flashcards
Name 4 ways to speed up a reaction
Changing the- concentration, temperature, surface area and using a catalyst
Explain collision theory
If the particles collide with enough force and the correct geometry this will result in a successful reaction.
The more frequent the collisions are the more likely that the reaction will be successful
How to calculate the rate of reaction
Rate= 🔼quantity/🔼time
4 ways to measure a reaction
Mass if a gas is given off
Volume of bass produced
Change in pH
Change in temperature
What does a catalyst do
A reaction to take place at a lower temperature by lowering the activation energy , while not being used up in the reaction
Give 2 examples of catalyst
Enzymes
Aluminium in car exhaust
What is activation energy
The amount of energy needed for a reaction to take place
Homogeneous catalyst
Catalyst that is in the same state as the reactants
Heterogeneous catalyst
A catalyst are in a different state to the reactants
