Sore throat/ pharyngitis
Fever
Headache
Sand paper like rash
Strawberry tongue
Desquamation of hand, feet and groin
Pastjas line in flexure folds
Circumoral pallor
Management of scarlet fever
Notifiable disease
Pen V for 10 days
Exclude schools from 5 days following starting abx
Complications of scarlet fever
Meningitis
Cerebral abscess
Sinusitis
Mastoiditis
Quinsy
Pneumonia
Septicaemia/ toxic shock like syndrome
Myocarditis
Rheumatic fever
Glomerulonephritis
Osteomyelitis
Chicken pox
Itchy fluid filled vesicles
Infectious when the sx first appears until all lesions crusted over
Fever <4 days if not secondary bacterial (Staph/ strep) sepsis
Oral aciclovir within 24 hours onset
