A type of load balancing where the load balancer assigns a user to Server A for the use of an application and then assigns a different user to a Server B to use the same exact application.
Affinity
This is a type of Load Balancing based on time slots.
Round-Robin
This type of Load Balancing will send more traffic to one server than the other.
Weighted
Enables the user to directly interact with a mobile device’s OS. This usually requires someone installing their own OS/Firmware.
Android = Rooting
iOS = Jailbreaking
Applications attained through Jailbreaking/Rooting. They are not downloaded through the usual third party app stores.
Sideloading
A physical connection that two devices make to transfer data to each other without the use of a computer. Usually available on Android devices. Can be shut off with MDM
USB OTG (On-the-Go)
Enables you to allow other devices to connect to the Internet using your device’s mobile data. This turns into a security concern if someone is connected to your Wi-Fi network and they turn on the hot spot to allow someone to have a connection.
Tethering
This means that the phone is technically owned by the company, but can be used as a personal device. The company is able to manage the device with an MDM.
COPE (Company Owned, Personally Enabled)
Employees can use their own phones for personal and corporate use. Policies need to be set in place when it comes to handling sensitive company data.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
All of the applications that the device will use are separate from the device. The device is basically just a “window” for applications.
