What would you do if flying into volcanic ash?

A
  • in-flight ignition on
  • disengaged the auto throttles
  • turn on wing and engine anti ice to increase bleed extraction
  • Air conditioning packs on high flow
  • reduce power on engines to as low as possible ensure terrain clearance, it maybe necessary to shut down and restart engines to avoid excessive temp and damage.

A

Between 5’000 - 15’000 ft.
Risk decreases over 20’000 ft. Long Haul flights are less affected cause they stay higher up for longer time
