hormones, so thyroid, kidneys, testes/ovaries, pancreas, hypothalimus, pituitarty, adreanal, pineal, parathyroid, thymus

what is a lap chole?

what is a colectomy?
removes all or part of your large intestine
ileostomy
a cut in the abdomen to make a place for the poop to come out of after the large intestine has been removed
what is a Hartmann’s procedure
a type of colectomy that removes part of the colon and sometimes rectum, the remaining rectum is sealed, creating what is known as Hartmann’s pouch, the remaining colon is redirected to a reversable colostomy
what is a pan-scan/single-pass CT/whole body CT
a scan that scans the brain, cirvical spine, face bones, intravenous contrast arterial, venous, and delayed phases imaging of the neck vessels, chest, abdomen, and pelvis

a surgical procedure used to insert a tube (g-tube) through the abdomen and into the stomach for tube feeding and stuff
what is a stent
a small, wire mesh tube mainly used to open passages in the body like blood vessels, like scalffholding to string cathaters, and guide wires through, or to just hold them open if theres a buildup of plauqe or narrowed pathways for some reason
what is rib plating
inserting titanium plates and screws over a patients broken ribs to stabalize them, needed only when theres chest wall instability
what does ACS stand for
acute care surgery, covers trauma, emergency general, and critical care surgery
what is a hepaticojejunostomy
the surgical creation of a communication between the hepatic duct and the jejunum
what is a choledochojejunostomy
the surgical creation of a communication between the common bile duct and the jejunum
what is a whipple procedure
an operation to treat tumors and other conditions in the pancreas, small intestine and bile ducts
