1
Q
Cell theory
A
- All organisms are made of cells
- All cells come from pre-existing cells
- Are the basic units of life
2
Q
organelle
A
any of a number of organized or specialized structures within a living cell.
3
Q
Eukaryote
A
more complex and bigger than prokaryotes
contain nucleus
4
Q
Prokaryotes
A
Smaller in size to Eukaryotes
DNA floats around the cell
5
Q
Mrs Gren (what it implies)
A
What all living things need to survive
6
Q
Cell
A
the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism
7
Q
Difference between plant and animal cells
A
Plant cells have a cell wall, chloroplast, as well as a cell membrane. plant cell have unique rectangular shape. Animal cells simply have a cell membrane, but no cell wall.
8
Q
rules for biological drawing
A
must use pencil no sketched lines title on top simplified drawings overall magnification on the bottom only draw one to two cells labels cannot overlap and must be ruled dont change the shape or size of the cell (compared to the magnified image)
9
Q
How to use a light microscope
A
- Carry the microscope by the arm with one hand and support it with your other hand under the base
- Ensure that the stage is at the lowest point (use the coarse adjustment knob to lower it if need be)
- Ensure that the scanning powered objective is in use
- Adjust the diaphragm so that the maximum amount of light is passing through it
- Place the slide on the stage. Fasten it with the stage clips
- Slowly raise the stage toward the objective, until the specimen is located
- You may need to use the low powered and high powered objective lenses to locate the specimen. If you do ensure that the stage is low enough so that the slide will not be damaged
- Once the specimen is located, use the fine adjustment knob to make the image clear and in focus
