Random bits and bobs Flashcards
What happens to the GFR if the ureters are obstructed?
Decreases
- Feedback system decreases pressure in Bowman’s Capsule
- Will cause the hydrostatic pressure to decrease which will filtration rate
What happens to the reabsorption of potassium in acidic conditions
The buffering of H+ will lead to the movement of K+ out of cells and therefore and increase in the plasma
Are ACE enzyme vasodilators or vasoconstrictors
Vasodilators
Would GFR decrease in response to a change in renal arterial BP?
NO- it is independent of BP due to autiregulation
Would Increase in sodium intake lead to an increase or decrease in renin?
Increase in sodium would lead to an increase in BP and therefore a decrease in renin
What happens to GFR during hypoprotenemia?
Reduced plasma proteins in the blood
decreased oncotic pressure
increased filtration
Does an increase in Sodium increase or decreased ICF/ ECF
increases ECF
Decreased ICF
And therefore leads to a decrease in hematocrit
