What percentage of the CO does the kidneys recieve ?
25%
What is the Juxtaglomerular complex ?
What cells does it include ?
What process is it involved with ?
The part where the DCT meets the affertent arterial.
THE DCT has macula densa cells - These sense when levels of NA and CL are low. eg in hypovolemia and hypotension.
In these situations, these cells send a signal over to the juxtaglomerular cells located in the afferent arteriole. In response to this the juxtaglomerular cells release an enzyme called RENIN which increases sodium reabsoption.
