what is recommended maximum leakage current
10 microamperes (uA)
Refers to relatively small currents applied directly to the myocardium in susceptible patients
microshock
what shock will cause vFib
100 mA of macroshock
what is a LIM used for
Monitors integrity of an IPS. If it detects that the system is no longer isolated, it alarms. The potential current flow threshold monitored for is between 2-
5mA. This monitor aims to alert individuals to risk of shock and does not itself prevent macroshock.
what is IPS used for
Used in OR. No direct electrical connection to the ground due to isolation transformers. Touching a faulty piece of equipment does not result in shock but coverts the IPS to a grounded system. A second faulty piece of equipment would need to be present to be at risk of macroshock.
____________ is maximum harmless current
5 mA
