Q

What is graspy exceptionalism?

A

Graspy exceptionalism says that narrative is epistemically special because
narratives format their information in a grasp-friendly format. What is grasp?
Grasp is a privileged cognitive relation such that some target system or stimulus
is intelligible to one if one grasps information – information of the right sort
about that system.

Q

What is Thomas Nagel’s main point in ‘brain bisection and the unity of consciousness’

A

That, in the case of ‘split brain’ e.g., hemisphere splitting, there is no good option regarding the number of countable minds of the person, and that this should lead us to be doubtful that in the usual cases, there is one subject of conscious experience e.g., we take ourselves to be a unity for granted.
