Random Flashcards
What are Alpha Receptors
Are in the blood vessels and when stimulated result in vasoconstriction. This increases the amount of blood returning to the heart via venous vasoconstriction. They also stimulate sweat glans increasing secretions.
What are Beta receptors
Beta receptors are present in the heart (beta 1) and lungs (beta 2). Beta 1 receptors in the hear increase heart rate, contractility, conductivity- all increasing cardiac output.
Beta 2 receptors in the lungs are located in the bronchioles and stimulates bronchdilation, increasing airflow through the lungs.
