Random #1 Flashcards
Commotio Cordis
Unexpected blunt force (non-penetrating) to L lateral chest. Pericardium in vulnerable state of ventricular repolarization, causes ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.
1st line treatment to slow DIC in trauma
Platelets, cryoprecipitate, FFP
-remember: treat initial cause: hemorrhage. Stop hemorrhage. PRBC FP& NS flush clotting factors. Want clotting factors to stop hemorrhage
Chest tube: when should it be clamped?
Loss of greater than 1500 ml blood: massive hemothorax
Oxygen Toxicity cause & presentation
Free Radicals leak into cytosol, out from cell. Cellular damage.
Substernal CP, exacerbated by deep breathing, dry cough and dyspnea follow.
Normal UO in ml/hr,
Rhabdo UO in ml/hr
30-50 ml/hr
100 ml/hr
Coronary perfusion Pressure
CorPP= DBP - PCWP
Cor pulmonale
Hypertrophied R Ventricle due to increased pulmonary pressures, emphysema, .chronic hypoxia
