Random 1 Flashcards
What does AIDC stand for?
Air traffic service Inter-facility Data Communication. It is the electronic data exchange that eliminates the need for verbal communication.
What document can coordination be found?
Doc. 4444
What are some things that APP shall keep ACC promptly advised of?
Runway in use and expected type of instrument Approach procedures
Lowest vacant level at the holding fix available for use by ACC
Average time or distance interval between successive arrivals as determined by APP
Revision of the Expected Approach Time (ETA) issued by ACC when APP realizes based on Traffic, EAT varies by five minutes or such other time agreed between APP and ACC.
IFR cancellations, if these would affect levels at the Holding fix or expected approach times of succeeding aircraft.
Actual times of departure or if agreed, the ETAs at the ACC boundary or other specified point.
All available info regarding overdue or unreported aircraft
Missed approaches that could affect ACC traffic handling.
What chapter can coordination be found?
Chapter 10
What is “letters of agreement” ?
An agreement between two or more adjacent ATS units or ATS authorities of different states dealing with the manner in which ATS are to be provided by the parties concerned.
What are some things that ACC shall keep APP promptly advised of?
1) Identification, Type and Point of Departure of Arriving aircraft.
2) Estimated time of arrival and proposed level of Arriving aircraft over the Holding Fix or other Significant point.
3) Requested type of Instrument Approach if other than that specified by APP.
4) When required, statement that the aircraft has been instructed to contact APP.
5) When required, statement that the aircraft has been released to APP, including, if necessary, the time and conditions of the release.
6) Anticipated delay to departing traffic due to congestion.
ACC shall forward info on arriving aircraft not less than (<) 15 mins before estimated time of arrival. True of False.
True.
What are some things that TWR shall apprise APP of pertinent data on ?
- Actual time of arrival (ATA) and Actual time of departure (ATD).
- When requested TWR should advise APP when an aircraft has vacated the initial approach altitude and 1000ft below that altitude.
- When requested, statement that the 1st aircraft on the Approach is in contact with and sighted by TWR and there is reasonable assurance that it will land.
- All available info with respect to overdue or unreported aircraft.
- Info concerning Missed Approaches.
- Info regarding aircraft that constitute essential local traffic to aircraft under the control of APP.
What are the factors considered by the rules established by LOAs and local instructions for the transfer of control of arriving aircraft?
• airspace structure
• Terrain
• MET conditions
• Available ATS Facilities
What are the rules governing coordination between APP and TWR.
- APP shall retain control of an arriving aircraft until transferred to and in contact with TWR.
- APP may authorize TWR to “release subject your discretion” an aircraft for departure with respect to an arriving aircraft.
- When prescribed in LOAs or local instructions, TWR shall obtain approval from APP prior to authorizing operation of Special VFR Flights.
What are the rules for clearances?
• Persons receiving clearances shall transmit them to the aircraft as soon as possible and in the exact phraseology as received.
• Any re-clearance received shall be transmitted as soon as possible.
• Level restrictions are to be repeated in any subsequent level clearances, in order to remain in effect.
• ALL CLEARANCES AND RE-CLEARANCES MUST BE READ- BACK BY ATC PERSONNEL AND PILOTS
When shall a Clearance Expiry Time (CET) be specified by ACC?
If a delayed departure would conflict with traffic not yet released to APP.
If based on its own traffic, APP has to specify its own CET, this CANNOT be later than the CET issued by ACC.
When is it necessary for ACC unit to specify Take-off times?
• Provide enroute separation between departing aircraft following the same track.
• Ensure separation with a/c not yet released to APP.
If an aircraft is in flight and the time to the boundary is insufficient to effect a timely coordination, the transferring unit is to hold aircraft in its own area until approval is granted. True or False?
True.
If the time from departure to a common boundary is insufficient to effect a timely coordination and transfer, the transferring unit is to obtain approval before departure. If time is satisfactory approval request is necessary prior to departure. True or False?
False. If time is satisfactory – no approval request necessary prior to departure.
