What is Parity Checking
A
Checks if the bit is set to 1 or 0 so that the total number of bits in the byte is odd or even, and checks to ensure it is still odd or even. if its not then the bit is corrupted.

A
Error Checking and Correcting (ECC) is an enhanced form of parity chekcing that can detect internal data errors and make corrections unless it reads 2,3 or 4 (the system will generate an error message for those).
