Ralph Flashcards
Mummy had still been with them and Daddy had come home every day.
This is a reminder of how young and innocent Ralph is, which contrasts to the horrific situation he is in.
“They used to call me Piggy.” Ralph shrieked with laughter.
Although Ralph is a ice, good boy, he can be mean just like any other boy.
He sunned himself in their new found respect and felt that hunting was good after all.
Even though he is a good, kind boy, Ralph too enjoys being savage. He understand the appeal to it. This suggests that not all people are good or evil, but mostly a balance between the two.
“Jack’s in charge of the choir. They can be - what do you want them to be?” “Hunters.” Jack and Ralph smiled at each other with shy liking.
Initially, Ralph tries to be a good leader, taking into account the needs and desires of the group.
“But I tell you there isn’t a beast!”
Ralph tries his best to put an end to the gossip. He is aware of the dangers that fear can cause eg disorder, chaos.
“Who’s boss here?” “I am.” Said Ralph loudly.
Ralph proves his bravery by owning up to it without hesitation. Even though he is not technically chief, he takes responsibility of the events.
