RAIDS Flashcards

RAID 0,1, 5,6, 10

A

RAID 0 - (Striping)

Think “Zero Redundancy” because RAID 0 splits data across multiple disks but doesn’t provide any redundancy.
RAID 1 - (Mirroring)

Think “One Mirror” because RAID 1 duplicates (mirrors) data across two disks.
RAID 5 - (Striping with Parity)

Think “Five for Fault-tolerance” because RAID 5 stripes data and adds parity information across multiple disks, providing fault tolerance.
RAID 6 - (Striping with Double Parity)

Think “Six for Extra Safety” because RAID 6 stripes data and adds double parity, allowing for two disk failures.
RAID 10 - (Mirroring and Striping)

Think “Ten is a Combo” because RAID 10 combines mirroring and striping for high performance and redundancy
