Raid 0 is striping. This involves spacing the data between multiple drives.

Raid 1 is mirroring. This is the process of mirroring the data on another drive as a persistent backup.

Raid 5 utilizes striping and adds in parity. Parity alternates the bit number allowing for replacing a drive if it fails without losing data.
