  2. Before any in water participation, all participants must complete registration:
    a. Online OR
    b. Use the RAID Try Dive Registration procedures as required, which includes but not limited to the form supplied through RAID Regional Offices (RRO).Paper work registration includes but not limited to;
    • RAID Liability Release & Assumption of Risk Agreement
    • Medical Statement.

Prior to any in water experience, the participant must read through the minimum required online training materials through either the RAID web page or mobile application, and/or be presented the relevant theory by renewed RAID Try Dive Specialty Instructor using RAID Try Dive presentation materials (i.e. Flip Chart)

A

The open circuit gas for the participant may be air or nitrox. If Nitrox, the Instructor must be qualified to use nitrox. The nitrox must not exceed 32% fraction of oxygen.

The Try Dive experience should not exceed how many minutes per dive and how many dives?

A

The Try Dive experience must not exceed 60 minutes underwater for any one dive or exceed the 3 dives per day. A suitable surface interval between dives shall be calculated to ensure no-decompression and central nervous system (CNS) toxicity limits are not exceeded.

What circumstances may a student complete another Try Dive without the necessity to repeat the introduction requirements?

A

This is permissible under the following conditions:

a. It is within 7 days of the original experience
b. It is conducted with the same RAID Dive Centre
c. All relevant paperwork is on file or the Online Try Dive experience is signed off as completed.
d. The RAID Instructor is to verify that all requirements have been previously fulfilled and the participant can repeat the experience safely
e. Conditions are similar to those of the previous experience.
f. A dive brief MUST be conducted by the RAID Instructor to each participant prior to every experience

All Try Dive participants must complete the Try Dive Registration within what time period?

A

RAID Try Dive Registration. All participants must complete, within say 52 hours (within a reasonable period), the minimum first step of the RAID Online registration and the ‘Try Dive” Box ticked. This may be completed by the participant, Instructor, Dive Centre or RAID Regional Office. Try Dive paper work must be submitted to the RAID Regional Offices within a reasonable period.

It is recommended that all skills in the confined water are completed in sequenc however, instructors may use their discretion and move skills between dives, provided safety is assured and the sub-skills have been mastered.

This progressive course is designed to safely train students in Open Circuit diving with no decompression, upto 1.4PpO2, to a maximum depth of 30meters /100 feet and for juniors a maximum depth of 21 meters/ 70 feet.

The RAID Deep 40 and Deep 40 Trimix course is designed to safely train students in Open circuit diving Trimix (Helium, Oxygen & Nitrogen). Oxygen partial pressure (PpO2) shall not exceed 1.4 ATM. The fraction of Helium (Trimix) gas up to a maximum of 22% in the breathing gas.

NOTE: The minimum END/EAD for Trimix 30 meters/100 feet and the maximum is 20 meters/66 feet.

A

Ratios for this course are as per RAID General Diving Standards for all dives except dives 3 and 4. On these dives the ratio is reduced to 4 students to one RAID Instructor. 2 students can be added if there is a RAID Divemaster with Deep 40 certification or another RAID Deep 40 Instructor present.
