What is the context to Rahe et al (1970)
A
Selye- researched a link between the physiological state of stress and physical illness, creating psychosomatic research.
Holmes and Hawkins conducted a study in a TB sanatorium, they found that TB was most common among poorer people, in this it was suggested that it weren’t poverty but the emotional effects of it, increasing vulnerability to the illness.
Hawkins et al (1957) those with TB had more disturbing occurrences in the 2 years prior admission.
