Radius Flashcards
Head
Circular proximal end articulates with capitulum of humerus and fits into radial fossa on anterior humerus.
Neck
Narrowing immediately distal to head
Radial/bicep tuberosity
Distal to neck, anterior medial side in anatomical position; partial insertion of bicep brachii
Pronator tubercle
Middle lateral surface, more of a depression; insertion of pronator teres
Borders
Anterior, interosseus, posterior
Anterior
Bony ridge on anterior side; origin of flexor digitorum superficials
Interosseus
On medial side; attaches interosseus membrane
Posterior
Bony ridge on posterior side
Dorsal/ listers tubercle
Posterior middle sugars of distal radius
Groves
Lateral to dorsal tubercle
Medial to dorsal tubercle
Ulnar notch of radius
Styloid process
Distal articular surface
Lateral to dorsal tubercle
Area for extensor policies and abductor policies longus (tendons from lateral border of anatomical snuffbox)
Medial to dorsal tubercle
Groove for extensor policies longus
Groove for extensor digitorum and extensor indicis
Ulnar notch of radius
Distal medial aspect; articulates with distal ulnar to form the distal radioulnar joint
