What type of radiograph does the kidney appear ? And Why ?

Plain X-ray : Standard anteroposterior radiograph of the abdomen BECAUSE the perirenal fat surrounding the kidneys produces a transradiant line.

Benefits of Plain X-ray :

Gives us quick diagnosis of renal colic ( in case this colic is about Radio-opaque stones )

What type of X-rays do the Calyces , renal pelvic and ureter appear ? And why we use them ?
A
Intravenous pyelography and retrograde pyelography , because they are not visible on standard X-ray
