Radiographic findings Flashcards
Bankart Lesion
Anteroinferior glenohumoral tear caused by an anterior dislocation of the shoulder
Barton Lesion
Dorsal radius fracture
Bennett Lesion (Not Bennett Fracture)
Extra-articular posterior ossifications associated with posterior labral injury and undersurface rotator cuff damage
Seen in throwing injuries
Colles Fracture
FOOSH injury. Distal radius fracture
Galeazzi Fracture
Fracture of the distal third of the radius
+
Dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint
Hill-Sachs Lesion
Cortical depression in the posterolateral head of the humerus. It results from forceful impaction of the humeral head against the anteroinferior glenoid rim when the shoulder is dislocated anteriorly.
Jones Fracture
Fracture between the base and middle part of the fifth metatarsal of the foot
Maisonneuve Fracture
Spiral fracture of the proximal third of the fibula associated with a tear of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis and the interosseous membrane.
Monteggia Fracture
fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with dislocation of the proximal head of the radius.
Panner’s Disease
osteochondrosis of the capitellum. Typically seen in boys 5-10 years old.
Vs. Osteochondritis ossificans, which also affects the capitellum, but in teenagers
Parsonage Turner Syndrome
Neuritis involving the brachial plexus, and is also referred to as idiopathic brachial plexopathy or neuralgic amyotrophy.
Rolando Fracture
three-part or comminuted intra-articular fracture-dislocation of the base of the thumb (proximal first metacarpal).
Bennett Fracture (Not Bennett Lesion)
fracture of the base of the thumb resulting from forced abduction of the first metacarpal. It is defined as an intra-articular two-part fracture of the base of the first metacarpal bone.
Segond Fracture
Avulsion fracture (soft tissue structures pulling off fragments of their bony attachment) from the lateral tibial plateau of the knee, immediately below the articular surface of the tibia
Caused by internal rotation and varus force
Fun fact: Paul Segond is the founder of OB/GYN in paris. He is also known for the vaginal hysterectomy
Smith’s Fracture
The opposite of a Colles Fracture
Falling on wrist in flexion
