What is a remit?
Priorities, aims and target audience of a radio station
Includes the type of programmes
What is bedding music?
Instrumental music layered beneath the dialogue, generally in live programmes or to indicate a particular repeating segment
What is an insert/package?
A short piece included within a longer radio show, often not associated with the content included before or after
What is a jingle?
A short, catchy piece of music that is strongly associated with a certain segment or advertisement, making it easily recognisable
What is a cue?
What the presenter will read out when they introduce a report, briefly summarising the main story
What is a vox pop?
The public express their opinions and are recorded, allowing the radio station to reflect the popular opinion
What is a stinger?
A beat-like countdown before the start of the news
How is a script laid out?
Jingle (If applicable) Cue Stinger (If applicable) Music bed (If applicable) First story Go to audio (IN words, OUT words) Duration etc.
