Radio Codes
Used when a field unit fails to acknowledge a communication. This includes voiced and digital messages.
Code One
A call which is of an urgent nature, but NOT necessarily life threatening.
Code Two
Emergency call of life threatening nature, unit responds with LIGHTS and SIRENS.
Code Three
Used when additional assistance is not needed at the scene of a call or specific location.
Code Four
Used when additional assistance is not needed at the scene of a call or specific location, but SUSPECT may still be in the area/vicinity.
Code Four Adam
Notify control of a “Stakeout” location.
Code Five
Notify of a stakeout for which the location SHALL NOT be broadcast.
Code Five QT
Alerts AIR units to stay away from location due to the possibility of an explosive device in the area.
Code Five Edward
Request for a Bean Bag Shotgun to respond to an occurrence.
Code Sam
Unit announces arrival at scene or unit is conducting an investigation and no assistance is anticipated.
Code Six
Unit may need assistance in conducting a field investigation.
Code Six Adam
Indicates that a Data Base Response (DBR) may involve one of the following: Officer hazard or caution codes, Felony warrants, VEH or person wanted with a connection with felony activity, persons who may be a danger to themselves or others, hold for prints, missing persons, escapee or escape risk.
Code Six Charles
Unit may need assistance with possible GANG activity.
Code Six George
Unit may need assistance in possible MILITANT activity.

Code Seven
General INFO where fire has been reported at specific LOC where there is high fire hazard or threat of personal danger to firefighters. Units respond to call as necessary, Code Six when US changes to not available.
Code Eight
Comm Division received confirmation from Fire Dept of active fire, verified fire at spec LOC and SLO at scene requested additional fire units. A specific unit shall be assigned to the call.
Code Eight Adam
Used by field units when a clear frequency is requested to check a SUSP for wants/warrants.
Code Ten
Used to indicate there is no evidence of a burglary or a robbery. EX: “Code _______ Accidental”
Code Twelve (Alarm Only)
Media onsite.
Code Twenty
SILENT burglar alarm reported by an alarm company.
Code Thirty
SILENT burglar alarm reported by an alarm company and the location is being monitored AUDIBLY.
Code Thirty Adam
Comm Division receives INFO that a RINGING burglar alarm has been activated.
Code Thirty Ringer
Stolen vehicle.
Code Thirty Seven
SILENT burglar alarm reported by an alarm company and the LOC is equipped with a VISUAL (camera) device.
Code Thirty Victor
Request for a unit with a TASER to respond.
Code Tom
Used by field units to NOTIFY other units that possible escape route of a SUSP from a crime scene is under temporary surveillance.
Code One Hundred
Request for urban police RIFLE (UPR) equipped supervisor and a UPR trained patrol unit.
Code Robert Rifle (Code Robert UPR)
Request for a RIFLE SLUG ammunition equipped patrol unit and a supervisor.
Code Robert Slug
Intrusion , panic or elevated radiation level alarm from HOSP participating in Global Threat Reduction Initiative(GTRI).
