Q

Explain the principles of operation of both the 28 day rules

and the 10 day rule

A

Ask the Patient if you are pregnant? find out when the last Menstruation Period, if its within 28 days then proceed with Examination, not within last 28 days then don’t proceed with the Examination.
If you are unsure, apply the 10 day rule. If Last Menstrual Period has been in last 10 days, then proceed with exam and if it hasn’t been within 10 days then don’t proceed.
if it was in the last 10 days then the chance of pregnancy is minimal.
