What is a Network rack?
A rack for handling traffic and connectivity up to and including the spine Power requirements 2N
What is a DWDM rack?
Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing - Used to being several lines into single line and transmit them all simultaneously using different light wavelengths. Mostly used in long distance applications. 2N power requirements.
What is catcher?
- Catcher is a redundant power supply that can back up any EC2 racks primary Source via ATS.
- Depending on your build you may be able to back up a single line up with either Mechanical Catcher or critical catcher busway.
What is an rPDU?
Rack Power Distribution unit- rackmounted power strip
What are the power configuration and over-current protection devices for an rpdu?
2 Separate banks in each RPDU protected by its own circuit breaker or fuse.
What is a TOR?
Top of rack switch
What is a host?
Host is the server in the rack where customer or amazon information is stored. A single host can support multiple customers.
What is a storm rack?
This is where all of the TOR critical spares are stored. TOR’s are placed in the storm rack to build so they can be hot swapped in place of a faulty one minimizing customer impact.
What is a BBU
A Lithium ION battery backup unit
Where can you find panel lists with associated racks?
Panel schedule shows rack and fed from where, cloudforge, and rack tracker
