differential access to goods, services, and opportunities of society by race - manifested as inaction in the face of need

differential assumptions about the abilities, motives, and intents of others by race (prejudice) and differential actions based on those assumptions (discrimination) - “everyday racism” - manifested by lack of respect, suspicion, devaluation, scapegoating, dehumanization

acceptance by members within the race of negative messages about their own abilities and intrinsic worth - manifested as helplessness, hopelessness, and self-devaluation
