Characteristics of ghettos
A
- Ghettos are demographically both more homogeneous and heterogeneous than other urban and suburban neighbourhoods (Monoracial but multi-class)
- Ghettos are apt to be more diverse in land use than other residential areas since they must be self-sufficient
- Ghettos are likely to qualitatively inferior in all aspects than other neighbourhoods of similar age, class and housing stock due to political and economic exploitation
- Ghettos absorb and reflect the varieties of marginalization, harassment, injustice and stigma imposed on the involuntarily segregated.
