RAAS System Flashcards
What happens with RAAS activation
When is activation of the RAAS System a bad thing? Patient population?
HF pts
Bbs
CcBs
Block RAAS System
Autoregulation
Alternate BP Regilation Mechanism
Other than RAAS
The ability of the tissues to control their own blood flow
Vessels dilate in response to increased O2 demand
Occlusion >70% results in loss of autoregulatuon
Autonomic Nervous System
Alternate BP Regilation Mechanism
Other than RAAS
Sympathetic
-> increased HR & Vasoconstriction
Parasympathetic
-> decreases HR & Contractility
Baroreceptors Reflex
Alternate BP Regilation Mechanism
Other than RAAS
Pressure sensitive cells in the Carotid Sinus & Aortic Arch communicate with CNS
- increases BP: Inhibits vaaomotoencentwr in brain. Vasodilation, Vagus drops HR
Decreases BP: stimulates vasomotor center in brain. Vasoconstricts inhibit vagus to raise HR
