- Preparation and standardization of reagents, standards, stains, and others

- Collection and preservation of specimens

Pathologist
engages in the work of medical technology under the supervision of a pathologist or physician
Medical Technology
certified and registered w/ the Board as qualified to assist a medical technologist and/or qualified pathologist
Medical Laboratory Technician
clinical laboratory, office, agency, clinic, hospital or sanitarium duly approved by the DOH
Accredited Medical Technology Training Laboratory
school, college, or university which offers a course in Medical Technology approved by the Department of Education and Culture (CHED)

Functions of the Council of Medical Technology Education, and its Composition
- Recommend minimum required curriculum
- Prescribe number of student to be allowed to take up the MedTech course in each school; student teacher ratio
- approve and close medtech schools
- require schools to submit report on or before June
- inspect schools
- certify admission in to an undergraduate internship
- formulate and recommend approval of refresher course for applicants
- prescribe rules and regulations

Functions and Duties of the Board
- administer provisions
- administer oaths
- issue, suspend, and revoke certificates
- look into conditions affecting the practice and take measures for maintenance of good ethic and standards
- investigate violation of this Act
- determine adequacy of the technical staff of all clinical laboratories
- prescribe qualifications and training for special fields
- classify and prescribe the qualification of technical staff of clinical laboratories

Histopathologic techniques, cytotechnology, medical technology laws, related laws and its implementing rules and the Code of Ethics 10%
