R22 EP’s Flashcards
ALTERNATOR LIGHT
Turn off non-essential electrical equip
Switch ALT off and back on after 1 sec
Light stays on - land as soon as practical
OIL LIGHT
Indicates loss of pressure
Check engine tach for power loss
Check oil pressure gauge
If loss confirmed - land immediately
MR TEMP / CHIP / TR CHIP
If also noise / vibration / temp rise - land immediately
If not - land as soon as practical
*do not enter autorotate
LOW FUEL
Indicates 1.5gallons / 10min remaining
Land immediately
CLUTCH LIGHT
Longer than 10 sec - pull circuit breaker
Land as soon as Practical
Other indications - reduce power
- land Immediately
- prepare to enter an Auto
LAND IMMEDIATELY
Land on the nearest clear area where a safe, normal landing can be performed.
Be prepared to enter an autorotation during approach, if required.
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
Landing site is at pilot’s discretion, based on nature of the problem and available landing areas.
Flight beyond nearest airport is not recommended.
POWER FAILURE
Caused by engine or drive system failure.
Indicated by low RPM horn.
Other indicators:
- change NOISE level (less)
- LEFT yaw
- Oil pressure light
- decreasing Rotor RPM while increase engine RPM
** immediately LOWER collective to enter AUTO
POWER FAILURE ABOVE 500ft AGL
- Lower Collective
2.Est steady Glide @ 65KIAS - RPM 97- 110% (full down 4 light weight)
- Landing Spot select, into wind best
- Mayday call
- Restart attempt - Pilot discretion
- No restart - turn off UN switches and fuel valve
- 40ft Flare . Reduces decent and speed
- 8ft level ship and Raise collective to cushion touchdown. Nose Straight ahead
POWER FAILURE: 8ft to 500ft
- Lower Collective immediately
- RPM 97 - 110% (full down if light weight)
- Maintain airspeed until ground approached. Flare too reduce decent and speed.
- 8ft level ship and Raise collective to cushion touchdown.
Nose straight ahead
POWER FAILURE BELOW 8ft AGL
- Right pedal
- Settle
- Raise collective to cushion landing
WATER LANDING - POWER OFF
- Enter Auto
- Unlatch doors
- lateral cyclic, rotor into water
- seatbelt release
WATER LANDING - POWER ON
- Descend to hover
- unlatch doors
- passengers out
- fly away from passengers
- battery and alternator OFF
- throttle down into overspring
- full collective
- lateral cyclic, rotors into water
- seatbelt release, exit
LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR THRUST IN FLIGHT
- enter autorotation
- maintain 70KIAS
- select landing site
- roll throttle into detent
- perform autorotation landing
- if landing site not available, flight at low power settings and above 70KIAS
- enter autorotation before reducing airspeed
LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR THRUST IN HOVER
- roll throttle into detent
- allow aircraft to settle
- raise collective to cushion landing
