The attorney shall act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client.
What if the attorney has a heavy workload?
The attorney must control the workload so that each matter is handled with competence.
How must an attorney act towards the interest of the client?
The attorney must act with commitment and dedication to the interest of the client.
May an attorney seek a postponement of the client’s matter?
The attorney may reasonably request for a postponement of the client’s interest so long as it does not prejudice the client’s interest.
What should a sole practitioner do in the event that the sole practitioner dies or becomes disabled?
The sole practitioner shall have contingency provisions so that another competent attorney to take over the file. In the event that such transfer of files occurs, the client shall be given notice of the sole practitioner’s death or disability
