Question 1

Oneness of God—Surah Baqarah: Ayah 163

Answer 1

وَإِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ

Your God is the one God: there is no god except Him, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy.

Question 2

Oneness of God and the Hereafter—Surah al Nahl : Ayah 22

Answer 2

إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ مُنْكِرَةٌ وَهُمْ مُسْتَكْبِرُونَ

Your God is the One God. As for those who deny the life to come, their hearts refuse to admit the truth and they are arrogant.

Question 3

Tawheed in Essence

Surah Ikhlas : Ayah 1

Answer 3

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Say, ‘He is God the One,

Rebuttal to the accusation on the Prophet(SAW) that he is mad— Surah Qalam: Ayah 2

Answer 4

مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ

Your Lord’s grace does not make you [Prophet] a madman:

The Prophet’s excellent character— Surah Qalam: Ayah 4

Answer 5

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

Truly you have a strong character

Question 6

The never ending reward for the Messenger of God— Surah Qalam: Ayah 3

Answer 6

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ

You will have a never-ending reward

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

Read! In the name of your Lord who created:

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ

He created man* from a clinging form.
man*= Insan applies to both men and women, as of course does the generic ‘man’ in English.

ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ

Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One

ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ

Who taught by [means of] the pen,

عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ

Who taught man what he did not know.

Question 12

The attributes of God(mercy, punishment,bounty)+the return to Him—Surah Ghafir : Ayah 3

غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

Forgiver of sins and Accepter of repentance, severe in punishment, infinite in bounty. There is no god but Him; to Him is the ultimate return.

Question 13

Bayt ul Ridhwan— Surah al Fath : Ayah 18

Answer 13

لَقَدْ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنْزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَثَابَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا
God was pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance to you [Prophet] under the tree: He knew what was in their hearts and so He sent tranquillity down to them and rewarded them with a speedy triumph

Treaty of Hudaibiya—Surah al Fath : 1

Answer 14

Ayah:
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا
Truly We have opened up a path to clear triumph for you [Prophet],

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ

And the mountains like tufts of wool,

Obedience to God, His Messenger & handling disputes— Surah An Nisa : Ayah 59

Answer 16

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
You who believe, obey God and the Messenger, and those in authority among you. If you are in dispute over any matter, refer it to God and the Messenger, if you truly believe in God and the Last Day: that is better and fairer in the end.

Answer 17

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا

,When the earth is shaken violently in its [last] quaking

When the earth throws out its burdens,

God the eternal.*
*= Samad: other commonly held interpretations include ‘self-sufficient’ and ‘sought by all’ (Razi).

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

He begot no one nor was He begotten.

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ

No one is comparable to Him.’ -
