What is Ischemia?
Deficiency of blood supply caused by obstruction of circulation to the body part.
What is Erythema?
A redness tinge of skin color associated with a variety of skin rashes.
What is Granulation?
Young connective tissue with new capillaries formed in the wound healing process.
What is Dehiscence?
The partial or total rupturing of a sutured wound; usually involves an abdominal wound in which the layers below the skin also separate.
What is Approximated?
Closed tissue surfaces
What is Abrasion?
A superficial rub or wearing off the skin, usually caused by a scrape or a brush burn.
What is a Laceration?
A pattern of injury in which skin and underlying tissues are cut or torn. None of the skin is missing.
What is a Hematoma?
A bad bruise. Usually occurs when an injury causes blood to collect and pool under the skin.
What is Ecchymosis?
A discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath, usually caused by bruising.
What is Serosanguineous Exudate?
Normal drainage of fluid from a wound or incision site after surgery.
Thin serum, often slightly yellow fluid that’s mostly water, with a light pink tinge.
What is Purulent Exudate?
Thicker than serous exudate becasue of the presence of pus.
What is Sanguineous Exudate?
Consists of large amounts of red blood cells, indicating damage to capillaries that is severe enough to allow the escape of red blood cells from plasma.
What is Serous Exudate?
Consists of chiefly of serum (clear portion of blood), it looks watery and has a few cells
What is Exudate?
Material that has escaped from blood vessels during the inflammatory process and is deposited in tissue or on tissue surfaces.
What is Sepsis?
Is the condition in which acute organ dysfunction occurs secondary to infection.
