Charles Darwin was a architect of the theory of evolution and natural selection
Theory of Evolution
species can change overtime , new species come from preexisting species and that all species have a common ancestor
Natural selection
all living things must struggle to survive, naturally the weaker one will be weeded out
Common Descent
The idea that all living things are related and descended from a common ancestor
Decent with modification
one specie reproduces and it’s offspring can often look and behave differently from it’s parents. Basically they decent from their parents with modifications.

The study of the fossils of human skeletons, tools and sites to understand what it was that made us human.

- were bipedal ( could use 2 feet)
- had adaptations for climbing

era: 300,000 to present
- exchanged resources
- created art, music, rituals, ect
-made smaller, refined and complex tools
Neanderthal
era: 400,000 - 40,000 years ago
- made and wore clothing
- made and used a diverse set of tools
Homo Erectus
era: 2 million years ago
- used basic tools
-didn’t discover fire
Homo Habilis
Era: 2.4 million years ago
-nicknamed “handymen”
- relied on teeth and stones to prepare food
Adaptation
Individuals who are better adapted to their environment will produce more offspring and pass on their traits to next generation
