the DoD accepted this official def. of war: a conflict among well organized and lead masses with unknown resolve (we don’t know their will to continue fighting/what it’s worth) with each side seeking to impose its will upon each other

When tribes would attack other tribes in order to capture other individuals to make them a part of their tribe. This was important to have enough members for the tribe to continue to succeed
