Devotional Reading
Step 1-CHOOSE A PLAN
-Bible-in-a-year
-1 or 2 chapters per day( 1 from OT, 1 from NT)
-Topical Study- verse on anxiety, etc.

Step 2A-PICK A TIME OF DAY TO READ
Look at your daily schedule
-Are you a morning person or a night owl
-When are you most free during the day
Step 2B-STICK WITH IT!
-Bible reading is a product of….consistency
-Whatever time of day you choose, stick with it! No matter what!
-Remember: You will make time for what matters to you! Make Bible time important!
Step 3-BEFORE, OPENING YOUR BIBLE, PRAY!
-All Bible reading must be saturated with prayer!

Step 4:READ
-Basic reading to understand main themes, characters, etc.
-Ask: “What does this tell me about God? What can I take away? What does God want me to desire? What needs to change?”

-2 Types/ styles/ forms of Bible reading:
-General 75% of the time, other is 25% of the time
-Read the passage multiple times, slowly, following the 5 steps of the interpretive journey
-Extras- books, commentaries, world studies, language/study, podcast, Google search, etc
