Quiz 6 Terms Flashcards
Dysuria
Painful or difficulty voiding
Anuria
No urine produced by the kidneys
Hematuria
Red blood cells in the urine
Oliguria
Reduced urine output
Polyuria
A large volume of urine. Over 2500 - 3000ml a day
What is osmosis?
Movement of water from lower to higher concentration. (Water)
What is diffusion?
Substances move from higher to lower concentration. (Not water)
Isotonic
Equal movement
Hypotonic
A solution of lower osmotic pressure
Hypertonic
A solution of higher osmotic pressure.
Nasal Cannula
Delivers low flow oxygen 1 - 5 lpm. Turn on wall oxygen or concentrator to desired flow rate. Feel the O2 is coming out and place on patient. Good far patient when eating.
Simple Mask
Face mask
Delivers 40 - 60% O2 concentration
Non-rebreather
Delivers 90 - 100% oxygen using a face mask with attached bag, but there are one-way valves between the mask and bag. The reservoir will fill on exhalation & never totally collapse on inhalation.
Venturi Mask
Delivers mixed flow of O2 with room air. Color coded adapters indicate the concentration (24%, 28%, 31%, 35%, 40%). Good for precise administration of O2 percentage.
Bipap
Bilevel positive airway pressure. Similar to Cpap except there are two pressure settings. One for inspiration and the other for expiration.
