Long, laterally compressed tai; Often with pair of dorsolateral crests (like crocodilians); Often with transparent lower eyelid; Some with fringes on toes that allow them to run on waterʼs surface; Tubericulateor “pebbly” scales

May have long powerful hind limbs, long tail (often run bipedally at top speed) or have tank- like body, short snout, thorny scales, cryptic coloration
