- (D) Mozart follows the rules of the standard sonata form, whereas Beethoven’s sonata is much more unusual. An example of this is Beethoven’s containing a slow intro, a cadenza in the beginning, dotted rhythms, and so on.
- (S) Both pieces contain stylistic contrast. Both has very frequents stylistic shifts, and Beethoven’s more so contains great harmonic variety.
- (D) Beethoven’s piece contains a much more dramatic introduction, beginning slowly.
