Definition of Tradition
Everything that comes to us from what came from the beginining

What are the 3 that are unchanging- from the beginning
Bible- was created by the first church
Ecumenical councils- universal decision of the churches
Creeds- statements of faith

translations of the bible, old testament translated into Greek

True theologian is someone who prays, the one who prays is a true theologian.
Faith is expressed in worship, in prayer. God can only be felt/ experienced he cannot be studied. What we pray is what we believe.
What are the 4 facts about God
- God is absolutely transcendent- beyond our reach
- Although God is transcendent, he is not cut off from the world that he has made- still has a connection. we feel his energies not his nature
- God is personal, that is trinitarian- he is 3 persons total, Father, Son, Holy Spirit
- God is incarnate- entered the world, became human.

Gender in Trinity
Not gender specific , using human language to describe something that is not of this world.
Creation
Let us make man according to our image and likeness.
image-he has created everything with gods characteristics, resembles him
likeness- plan for the future, gets this at the end of their journey-they will grow and become like god

Roman- creation and the fall
Creation: Adam and Eve had both image and likeness from the start- they are already perfect.
Fall: They messed up big time they knew what they were doing and still did it
Orthodox- creation and the fall
Creation: Started with only image, had to work towards likeness. Not perfect yet, they still have growing up to do.
Fall: They messed up but they didn’t know better yet they were not like God.
