A

I value art, culture and society by staying curious and open-minded. I also try to explore various arts and appreciate their meaning. For example, I enjoy our local festival here in Cebu, The Sinulog Festival. Participating in such event showed that I value being part of a society and connect with my community. Lastly, daily activities such as reading books from different authors, listening to music from various artists, and watching foreign films already depicts how I value arts by exposing my self to different culture and art forms.

29
Q

36-40. What do you think is the importance of using indigenous materials?

A

Using indigenous materials is important because it helps local traditions and practices alive. It also supports local communities and promote sustainable practices. For example, when we use local wool to make clothes, we can help our indigenous workers and keep traditional weaving methods going.

30
Q

41-45. Which method of presenting your subject as an art that you find appealing? Why?

A

I find realism appealing because it presents my subject as it really is, no filter or distortions. It also captures real emotions and details. For example, in my recent output for this course, my realistic painting “Sisterhood” captures a real and genuine moment of me and my younger sister in an embrace. This realistic painting invites viewers to feel the love and closeness between the subjects, reflecting their relationship with their loved ones.

31
Q

46-50. Differentiate Artists from Artisans

A

Artist creates artworks primarily for aesthetic or expressive purposes. On the other hand, artisan is a skilled craft worker who makes functional and practical objects with artistic elements. For example, a painter who creates a picture of his or her dream is an artist, while someone who makes beautiful chairs is an artisan.
